New Adventure

About two and half weeks ago Matt got a call that said we needed to meet with the Stake Presidency the following Wednesday night (Feb. 24). Matt had recently been called to be Young Men's President in our ward so he wasn't too worried about the meeting with the stake. Well, maybe he sould have been! He was called to be Second Counselor in the Bishopric. I do have to admit that I was a little surprised, but to be honest have always thought that he would end up in a position like this sometime. I jokingly told him that it was time for him to grow up now and that he would need to get a suit, no more dress shirt and pants for him anymore. :) This calling is going to be good for him and for our family, although I know that it will not be without it's challenges. I now get the joy of sitting on the bench with my 5 active boys ALONE! Yikes! The thought of that overwhelms me more than all the time he will be gone for meetings and such. I know that with prayer and faith we will get through the many sacrament meetings that lie before us. I also know that Matt was called for a reason and I know that he will do great in this capacity.

You are a good man, Matt and you will do a great job in the Bishopbric!
And Janae, you are a great wife and you will do super in the supportive role.
Pray that your boys can be "angelic" (or close to it) for just 70 minutes each week.

Wow, what great news! Not a surprise. You will do an awesome job Matt! I feel for you Janae. Keeping kids quiet during sacrament meeting can be challenging, but I am sure it will work out and hopefully people will be extra sensitive and lend you support when needed. Congrats, what a great blessing for your family!

I've always known that Matt would end up with a calling like this! He'll do a great job!
Janae, you'll do great too! I don't envy you sitting alone with the boys...but I'm sure there are some young women in your ward who will be more than happy to come and sit with you and help!
We don't always understand why we're given the callings that come to us, but the Lord has a plan for us and where he wants us to end up! You are both a great strength to your ward! And...your whole family will be blessed for your service and sacrifices!
