While dad is away . . .

. . . mom will play, or should I say WORK!! When Matt is gone on his business trips I like to work on projects. It helps to keep my mind off of him being gone. And I have turned it into a 'game' of sorts, which I know he isn't too fond of. I like to see how long it takes him to notice all the things that I got accomplished while he was gone. So because he was gone for most of September I was able to get quite a lot done, with the help of my wonderful mom who came to visit for a few days. Here is the list of accomplished tasks....pics included on some of the bigger ones.

*Cut 4 inches off the bar stools and made them counter height (much more comfy for adults to sit on)
*Replaced the broken handle on the storm door
*Sprayed Round-up on all the weeds
*Hung a new calendar/message board
*Hung a towel hanger in the laundry room
*Made a pillow for the front room
*Canned pears (thanks mom)
*Canned spaghetti and mardarin sauce and cabbage soup (thanks mom)

*Made a Halloween wreath I had seen in a magazine

*Made an Autumn burlap wreath for my door (thanks mom)
*Bought a lamp at DI and painted it to go in the front room

*Painted the front room (finally)

*Reupholstered a chair I had purchased at DI earlier this year (thanks mom)

*Made a window treatment for the main bathroom (thanks mom)

Phew . . . I think that is it. There were some other really some things that I got done, but these were the things on my list. I am excited with how everything turned out. Wish I was this motivated to accomplish things when Matt was around. Oh and for the record, Matt noticed everything quite fast. Although I do have to say that he sat in the front room talking to me for almost 10 minutes before he realized it had been painted. Thanks again mom for coming to visit and for all of your help. I truly couldn't have done it without you....especially the chair, definitely a two-person job.

That is awesome. That is a lot of projects. Mom is awesome to help out with stuff like that. I am surprised after helping me reapholter stuff that she did it again. :p

Everything looks SO nice. I must say...this upholstering job was much easier than Jill's. (although, it still wasn't easy)
It turned out pretty nice.
Oh...you had so many projects that you forgot one...The window treatment in the bathroom. Need to show that off too.
I still just love the lamp (so cute) and the color of the living room! (of course, blue is my fav!)
It was fun working together!

I definitely had my hesitation to doing another reupholstering job. It is not an easy task. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

I thought I had put that in there. It was late. It has been added.

Good job Janae! I need to have you come over when Ben is gone sometime so that things will get accomplished here! You amaze me all the time! I like the blue on the walls in your front room--glad you decided to go ahead and do blue! The chair looks awesome! And I absolutely LOVE the bathroom window treatment! I've been wanting to re-do my bedroom curtains to look like those, but haven't gotten to it yet!
