Easter Fun!!

It seems like Easter really snuck up on us this year . . . and then it was over as fast as it came!  We finally got around to coloring eggs Saturday night (the night before Easter)--at least we did it!  Notice the santa table cloth on the table . . . wrong season and holiday, but oh well.  Zander and McKay were especially excited to color eggs and whipped through their allotted eggs super fast, McKay in particular.

Easter Sunday began with Church and a nice sacrament meeting that focused on the Atonement.  What a great way to begin the day.  Oh and I should mention that the boys all got up well before 7:00 am to find their Easter baskets. We had smoked ham, yummy potatoes, deviled eggs, and peaches for dinner.  Which was followed by some yummy jelly bean nest cookies thanks to Pinterest (mom's new addiction).  Dad and mom then spent 30 minutes stuffing eggs with leftover candy for an easter egg hunt in the back yard.  Chase volunteered to hide the eggs for a payment of candy.  Trey, Layton, Zander, and McKay had fun trying to find the eggs.  Declan had zero interest, he just wanted to wander around.  The rest of the evening was spent playing outside as it was a beautiful day!

I am so grateful for my Savior and His willingness to suffer for my sins, sorrow, pain, etc.  I am grateful for the example that He set for me.  I am thankful that we have this time of year to focus on what the Savior did for each and every one of us.

Easter Fun

We did a couple fun things in the week leading up to Easter. The Saturday before (April 16th) we took the boys to an Easter egg hunt courtesy of McCain's. It was cold and windy, but the boys had fun. There was a golden egg hidden in each group and of course that was the first thing our boys raced to find. Trey and Layton found the golden eggs in their groups. After the hunts were done Layton came running over to Z & M's section and told Matt that there was a golden egg hidden by the sprinkler. Matt took Zander over by the sprinkler and Zander found the golden egg. So three of our boys won big Easter baskets....they were so excited! Monday evening we dyed Easter eggs. Quick little story to go with this...I had purchased the egg dye kit earlier that day and ihad it sitting in a bag on the counter waiting to be used. I walked out into the kitchen after feeding Declan to find Zander and McKay with the dye kit opened. Both boys had bright colored mouths. They had eaten the dye tablets!!

Easter Sunday after a great Regional Conference we had Doug & Kathryn over for pineapple glazed ham, funeral potatoes, jello salad, rolls, deviled eggs, and oreo cheesecake dessert. The boys hunted for the 98 eggs that Matt & Doug hid through out the yard and then we finished off the night with a game of Ticket to Ride. It was a great Easter!
