Let's be honest here...I am seriously behind.  Hello, it is November 2013, not November 2012 but for the sake of this family blog I am going back in time to 2012. :)  Honestly, I don't remember a whole lot of what went on that month, but here are some of the pictures.

Thanksgiving was spent with the Yearsley's this year.  It was a fun day of food and family.  The next day we went up to Spencer to cut down a Christmas tree to take home.  The group split up and it ended up being a bit of a frustrating time.  What should have been family time picking out our tree was Chase and Grandpa Yearsley picking out the trees.  This one that Trey is holding is the one we had chosen for our family.  We ended up with a completely different one after all was said and done.  

Thanksgiving

Unfortunately our Thanksgiving plans changed due to the weather and bad roads. Instead of being able to go to Hamer we ended up having Thanksgiving at our house with Doug and Kathryn joining us. It was a nice dinner, although we greatly missed being able to be with the rest of the family. We had mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, rolls, grean bean casserole, cranberry jello salad, homemade cranberry sauce, and of course the turkey that we raised (he weighed 28 lbs undressed)...it was all so delicious and we ate more than we should, but that is what Thanksgiving is for! We let the food settle by playing Wii and perusing the Black Friday ads. Then onto dessert--layered pumpkin dessert, Matt's lemon meringue pie, pumpkin roll, and apple pie. YUM! It was a great day despite the change in plans!I am grateful that we have this holiday to remind us all that we have to be grateful for in our lives. I am grateful for my boys and the joy they bring into my life, for my wonderful husband and all he does to provide for our family, and for both of our families and the love and support that they give us. I am grateful to have a nice, warm home to live in, and for the opportunity that we have to raise animals and teach our boys how to work. I am grateful for my testimony and for the Gospel in my life. Most importantly I am grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ.

Turkey Day

I am so behind with blogging....so bear with me as I try to catch up with everything. We celebrated Thanksgiving at our house this year. Dad, Mom, Jaron, Jordan, Jeff and his family, and Jill's family all arrived at our house Wednesday evening. After the kids went to bed the adults played some games while snacking on the boys' leftover Halloween candy. Thanksgiving morning most of the guys and kids went hunting for pheasant. I think they saw two, but didn't get any shots. When they all got home we went out to see the animals--baby calves, turkeys, etc. Jordan thought it would be fun to try and catch a turkey. It was quite funny to see him chasing after it and run when the turkey would flap its wings at him. He finally managed to catch the turkey though--see video. We then enjoyed our yummy Thanksgiving feast (turkey was butchered a couple weeks earlier by Matt and the boys). Jill took home one of the feet from our Thanksgiving turkey to give as a gag gift to a friend. She said the friend's reaction was hiliarious! We then played a couple Thanksgiving games (thanks mom for doing that) and ate dessert. Jill along with her family, Jaron, and Jeff and his family had to leave that night. The next day the boys and Trevor and Jenessa spent most of the day playing. Dad and mom and Matt and I chatted and then played some games. It was a nice relaxing day. It was so fun to be able to have everyone in our home. And the new addition and kitchen were awesome! There was plenty of room for everyone. I am so grateful for the wonderful family that I have along with all of my many other blessings.
