First golf lesson!!!!

After doing yard work on Saturday the boys asked Matt if he could teach them how to golf. So they went out to the back yard and he was teaching them how to swing. Trey asked if he could try swinging by himself. Matt said "Sure" and turned to move out of the way but Trey swung before Matt could move. The club caught Matt on the right side of his face....right next to his eye. I had been out front and heard a strange yell. I walked around the corner of the house to find Matt walking to the sliding door holding his head. He turned to me and he was covered in blood. While I was cleaning up the wound he kept checking his teeth. He was complaining that his bite felt really strange. After getting him cleaned up I told him it was probably best that we take him in. So we left all the boys home alone (Zander was napping) and headed to the ER around 4:30 or 5 pm. We spent the next 6 HOURS sitting in the ER!! Not much fun!

I ran home for a second to get Zander. When I got back the DR was in talking to Matt. He stitched up the cut...which ended up being quite deep and kind of T-shaped. He got 3 stitches. After that the DR ordered a CT scan to see if anything was broken since Matt's bite felt strange. We had to wait forever for those results because they send the image to Spokane and someone there looks it over and then gives the results back to the hospital here. It should have only taken 45 minutes but ended taking 2 hours!! Well, Matt does in fact have a fracture in one of the bones near his eye. Because of that they are worried about infection (becuase of the sinuses) so he had to have a shot of antibiotic. The nurse came in to give the shot and asked Matt for a hip. I had to laugh at that. He was quite embarrassed and said that the shot hurt worse than his face did for quite some time. We finally got home at 11pm.

We go to an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist on Wendesday so I guess we will see what happens next. Matt is trying to be tough but it is obvious that he is in A LOT of pain. We will continue to keep everyone updated.

Ouch! That looks terrible! I guess Trey hasn't learned the term "four" yet.
Good luck today at the Dr.
