After having to work so much over the holidays dad took the last two days of the first week of January off. The weather had been amazing . . . more like March weather, definitely not January. Dad suggested that we take a drive down to Milner Dam (he had taken C, T, & L fishing there a couple days earlier). It was crazy how the river bed was flat rock with perfectly round holes borred out in it. Z & M kept calling the holes 'bathtubs' and 'toilets'. The river was running quite low on this day, it was flowing through a small channel, but it is usually running over the rocks that we were walking on. Z & M did a great job maneuvering themselves up and over the rocks.
After wandering around there for quite a while we drove a couple miles down river and saw where all the water was being diverted to and then it being put back into the river. There was a HUGE pipe that dropped down into the main channel of the river and the water was churning there due to the amount of water being pumped back in. After that we drove down river another 5 miles or so and found Star Falls or Cauldron Linn. That was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! The river was quite wide and not too swift, and the it quickly goes into a channel and drops about 30 feet. The amount of water going over the fall is crazy. It was beautiful, and scary. There is no railing or anything to keep a person from falling in. Not a place I think I will take the little boys again. Too scary! It was such a fun afternoon to 1) have dad home with us and 2) to explore new places that are surprisingly close to our house.
**On a side note, a week later dad took the older boys fishing down to Cauldron Linn and they were quite scared of it. The asked that they go up to Milner Dam to go fishing, because they didn't feel safe at Cauldron Linn.
