October 2012 (part 2)

Matt and Chase spent a couple weekends up in Copper Basin hunting for elk and deer.  Chase and Matt both got a deer.  Chase was so excited to shoot his first deer.  They saw a lot of elk and even shot at some, but didn't get anything.  They had a scary moment when they were shot at.  They are thinking it was intentional because they were wearing their hunter orange and no where near another animal.  Scary!

The last week of October is always crazy with Halloween fun and McKay's birthday.  We started off the week with our annual pumpkin night.  We had "Dinner in a pumpkin" and then carved pumpkins and had a pumpkin dessert.  It was fun to see everyone's pumpkin designs.

We celebrated McKay's birthday the next night (October 30th) due to our ward Halloween dinner and trunk-or-treat on Halloween night.  It is hard to believe that McKay is already 4...where does the time go?  McKay chose to have ranch cheese pizza, jello, pineapple, and carrots for his birthday dinner.

McKay got several trucks and other fun stuff for his birthday.

For his birthday cake McKay chose cupcakes...with filling in the middle and flavored frosting.  Yum!

And Halloween....EVERYONE had fun dressing up this year.  Dad was a redneck, mom a baker, Chase a cowboy, Trey a phantom, Layton a penguin, Zander a raccoon, McKay a cow, Declan a dragon, and Keely a ghost.

Halloween 2011

Zander and McKay were so excited for Halloween this year.  They kept asking me how many "sleeps" until Halloween.  They couldn't wait to go trick-or-treating.  The evening began with a spooky dinner of build your own scary face pizzas.  Everyone had fun creating their own halloween pizza.  Dad made a werewolf, mom made a candy corn, and the boys made pumpkin faces.
After dinner it was finally time for everyone to get dressed in their costumes--Chase the unknown phantom, Trey a banana, Layton a barbarian, Zander a racoon, and McKay Tigger.  We then went around to some of our neighbors (all of them commented that our boys were the only trick-or-treaters they ever get).  Then we headed over to a neighborhood in Paul.  Chase, Trey, and Layton ran around together . . . I have a feeling this will be Chase's last year trick-or-treating as their were several comments made about him being a little too old.  If they only knew that he is 12--a little hard to believe considering his size and how deep his voice is.  The little boys were troopers and hit every house that had their lights on.  They had a great time and got quite a bit of candy.  It was a fun Halloween!

Halloween

Due to Halloween being on Sunday all of our activities took place on Saturday. Usually the ward has a trunk-or-treat for the kids, but the chose not to do one this year. So the primary counselor over primary activities decided that the primary would do one. The kids went from door to door in the church trick-or-treating and playing carnival games (cake walk, fishing pond, etc). McKay wasn't too excited about going up to the doors, but he tolerated it. After the church we took the boys to dinner at Perkins--we were all dressed in our costumes and got some pretty funny looks, especially Matt. On the way home we stopped in a neighborhood in Paul and let the boys go trick-or-treating, in the rain no less. Zander got tired after about 20 homes so he got in the car with mom. Chase was a good big brother and took McKay around the neighborhood even though he didn't care much to go trick-or-treating (can you say pre-teen). After a while Matt joined McKay and Chase. When it started getting dark Matt tried to get McKay to get in the car, but McKay was having nothing to do with that. He ran the other direction and said "NO! More weet, weet (trick-or-treat). I was surprised how much McKay enjoyed trick-or-treating, especially since it was raining and he didn't like it at the church. Despite the weather it was a great day!
