Fathers and Sons 2012

The boys were all excited for this years fathers and sons campout as they didn't have one last year (well they did but it was for boys 12 and up and their dads). Chase got everything packed into the van and they all (minus Declan) headed down to Thousand Springs for the night. Unfortunately things weren't very well planned out this year. There wasn't much food and there was some confusion on when the ward would be paying for swimming so the boys didn't get to swim at all. Zander and McKay were especially disappointed by that. Despite some poor planning the boys still had a good time hanging with dad, fishing in the river, hiking the hill across the street, sleeping in a tent and under the stars, and playing with friends from the ward. I am grateful that I have a husband that wants to spend time like this with his boys....they will always remember those times spent with their dad!

Klondike 2011

This past weekend Chase and Matt got to go up near Pommerelle for the annual Klondike derby with the scouts. Chase built a nice snow cave for he and some of his friends to sleep in Friday night. He said that they were nice and warm until he heard a sound that made him think the cave was caving in. So they hopped out sometime in the middle of the night and got into a leader's car where they got super cold. They ended up sleeping in a tent with other scouts, but were cold the rest of the night. Too bad they didn't stay in the cave where it was warm. It never did cave in. Saturday was supposed to be filled with relays and all sorts of fun stuff, but the weather was TERRIBLE . . . snowing, blowing, and bitter cold, so it was canceled. The boys ended up cooking their breakfast at the church in order to pass some thing off and then went home.
