New View!!!

So after months of getting bids (which came in too high for the most part) we have decided to do most of it on our own and we have finally started on our living room addition/kitchen remodel project! I am so excited! The framing for the addition was done two weeks ago (trusses should arrive tomorrow) and we tore into the current living room wall Friday night to install a bigger window. The boys have had fun helping out with the project, Trey especially enjoys ripping the trim off. Saturday afternoon after the rain had stopped Matt and Doug started taking the studs out to reframe the window opening in the center of the wall as well as make it bigger. Well, they found that some of the wood was rotted, studs were cut off at the top and bottom, and other things that come with a home built in 1920. So they made the decision to just rebuild the wall. It was pretty scary to see my whole wall come down. Thankfully Matt and Doug are competent and were able to build it back up much better than before. They worked until just before midnight and got the window mostly boarded up. There was about a 2ft x 2ft hole that was covered with house wrap. Our house was FREEZING Sunday morning. It rained most of the day Sunday but thankfully we had a tarp up to cover the exposed wall. Monday Matt got home from work and we got the window put in and the inuslation in. Then Tuesday was spent putting the siding back on. Oh . . . I forgot to mention that on Monday Chase and I got ambicious and took down the upper cabinets over the pennisula. That was quite the job, but so worth it. Now I can see straight from the kitchen out the new window! Can I just say that I love my new view! The window is centered and is 2 feet wider than before. I love being able to look out the window while I am in the kichen! I can't wait to see what it will all look like once it is finished.

A HUGE thank you to Doug, Kathryn, Mathew, and Nathanael for your help! We really couldn't have done it with out you! And I have to say how proud I am of my awesome husband for taking this on. I know that he was pretty nervous about doing it but he did a fabulous job!!! Thank you Matt!
