Funny story

First I should give a quick blip of background . . . we have a female goose that started laying eggs around the pasture (nothing ended up being in the eggs). Then she made a nest and laid another 3 eggs in the nest and started setting on them. The normal incubation period for a goose is about 28 days. We were eagerly anticipating the end of those 28 days; we were all so excited to have baby gooslings. Well the 28 days came and went without an egg hatching. So we decided to wait a little while longer. Now for the funny story . . . this past Friday we got some bales of hay that needed stacked (thanks Doug and Kathryn!) and unfortunately the nest was in the way so I made the executive decision to remove the eggs because I was confident that after about 45 days the eggs were NOT going to hatch. So I told Layton and Trey to carefully carry them FAR away from the house and the barnyard. Not long after they took off to dispose of the eggs I heard a pop. About a minute or so later Layton walks over with this green, boogery slime dripping from his nose and mouth onto his shirt. He proceeded to tell me that the egg popped! I guess he got a small rock and lightly tapped the egg and it exploded in his hand covering him with the rotten contents. We all had a good laugh until we were hit with the putrid smell. Can I just say YUCK!!! Moral of the story: don't tap 45 day old eggs with a rock! :)

That is hillarious! Just too bad Layt had to experience the nastiness!
