September 2012

Mud Fight!  What is it with boys and mud?  After the garden got watered the first Saturday afternoon in September the boys got into a mud fight.  What a mess, but they had a blast!  Zander didn't care much for the spray with the water hose to clean off--it was cold.  Ah, how I love well water! :)
Hmm...I think Chase might have dished out more than he got!
 Layton showing off the damage
Could you tell this was Trey?  Crazy...looks nothing like him!
Zander stayed out of the thick of it, but wasn't safe enough to avoid the cold hose in order to set foot in the house

The day Keely and I came home from the hospital the boys decided to have a fish fry.  It was a bit overwhelming for me, to say the least, but the boys had fun cooking up all the fish that had caught this summer.

I wrote about the birth of Keely, but here are some pictures of her (& the fam) during her first month.  We love her so much!

Football, football, and more football!!!  The months of September and October were full of football, Monday through Saturday.  I so enjoy watching the boys play football....even if it is at a freezing cold morning game or an even colder and windier night game.  I like to see them have fun.  To succeed.  To see their confidence grow.
Chase played on the 8th grade team for West Minico.  Again, he was one of the tallest and biggest players on the team.  He played Tight End and Defensive End.  He made 1 touchdown and a TON of tackles.

Trey played Running Back, Defensive End and Tackle.  He was quite the little star this year making 1 interception and scoring about 17 touchdowns.

Layton played for the first time this year and while he didn't have the best coach yet he still had fun.  Especially after he become the center--meaning he got to hike the ball to the QB.  He did such a great job in this position!

Declan had fun putting on the boys' football gear.  The helmets were so heavy they usually made him topple over. :)

Although she never got out of the car seat or Moby wrap, Keely was the boys' biggest cheerleader

Summer: Month One

I have been having a hard time keeping up with blog posts lately . . . slacker, I know.  In order to get caught up and hopefully stay that way this will be a general post of things that went on in June, month ONE of summer.  Which amazingly is already a week behind us as we are already into month TWO, where does the time go?
FHE treats--chocolate lip and moustache suckers!

Chase off to NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) for a week at Camp Bradley.

Closet cubbies in the little boys' room that Trey built for one of his projects for his Family Life merit badge.  He did such an awesome job!  I love the shelves!

Swimming in the flooded field

Sneak peek at baby K

Cuddle time with mom
Fun shower gifts for baby K
We also had reunions, trips to both Boise and Hamer, and baby room projects, but pictures are yet to come of the room . . . still a work in progress!

Happy Birthday to Layton!

Layton celebrated his 9th birthday on May 19th...I seriously cannot believe he is alreay NINE!!  He is such a fun blessing to our family.  He does very well in math, actually all subjects, at school but math is his favorite.  He enjoys creating things with his hands--clay, drawing, etc.  He is curious about everything and likes to learn how to do new things.  He is a ball of energy that never seems to want to sit still, wish I had half of his energy.
He had a pretty lazy day for his birthday since he had the day off from jobs so no mowing the yard for him.  He was pretty stoked about that.  For his birthday dinner he requested Beef Taco Skillet, Raspberry Pretzel Salad, Krab salad, and mixed fruit.

After dinner he got to open presents and go on a very long treasure hunt (thanks Trey) to find his new bike.  Some of the fun things he got for his birthday were an mp3 player, jolly ranchers (his fave candy), money, a t-shirt, and more candy.

His request instead of cake was his favorite dessert--dirt cups so I made a GIANT dirt cup!!
Happy Birthday Layton!  We love you and are so glad you are part of our family!

Layton's baptism

On June 4, 2011 Layton was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the afternoon before the baptism we drove down to Shoshone Falls and met Papa & Mama Barnes and Jenessa. The water was running really high so the falls were quite impressive.
After spending an hour at the falls we went home to eat sandwiches before heading up to the baptism. Layton was baptised at the Paul Idaho Stake Center by his dad. After a few pictures at the church we went back to our house for an ice cream bar. It was a great day! We are so proud of Layton and the choice he made to be baptised. He is such a great kid and we are so blessed to have him in our family.
Those in attendance at the baptism were Papa & Mama Barnes, Jenessa, Grandpa & Grandma Yearsley, Doug & Kathryn, Diana, Jeff, Amy, Maxton, Deagan, and of course our family.

Happy Birthday (a bit late)

Layton celebrated a big birthday on May 19th . . . he turned EIGHT!! It is hard to believe that he is already eight. Time seems to be going by faster and faster now. For his birthday dinner Layton requested spaghetti pie, pistachio salad, and sliced strawberries. His cake request was a chocolate and cookie dough ice cream cake with blue frosting. Yummy! Layton got a lot of nice things for his birthday a shirt, $, a new church shirt with tie, legos, K'nex roller coaster, candy, dart gun, and Wii nerf game. The day after his birthday he had friends over for a party. It was pure insanity . . . 13 boys (my 6 included) in our house was a bit much. The boys decorated cupcakes, played dart guns, a ballon popping game, pin the tail on the donkey, and played outside. I completely forgot to take pictures of all the craziness...er, I mean, FUN! I think that Layton had a good birthday, at least I hope he did.

We are so blessed to have Layton in our family. He is such a fun kid with an abundance of energy. He is such a good helper and is always willing to help me out in the kitchen. He is also good to play with his little brothers. Happy Birthday Layton, we love you!
